Aesop Rock is NOT playing Common Grounds this Thursday, November 20th. This show was mistakenly added to the Def Jux Records homepage. As far as I know, Aesop Rock is not playing Gainesville at all.

[11.10.03 ]
The +/- / anna oxygen and janet pants show has been listed incorrectly on our webpage. The show is happening Tuesday, December 2nd (Jay's 29th Birthday) instead of Thursday, December 4th. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Nigel is still out of town, but he may be reached on his cell phone or via email.

Happy Halloweeen. Some info: Nigel is on the road tour managering for Hot WaterMusic until after Thanksgiving. Nevertheless, he will still be reachable via cell-phone and e-mail. People should direct all normal questions to 'Partner-In-Crime' Naomi. However, If you are calling Nigelabout booking: DON'T! Send the jackass (AKA Nigel) an e-mail instead. (I am sure NIgel would also appreciate any e-mails commiserating about how annoying it is to travel with John Harris.) NIgel may be a little slow in responding (A.F.I. has a lot of gear after all), but he will respond (unless your band sucks). In addition, Jay will be sending out the e-mail updates through the end of the year.

Ok, I want to let you know that I have changed the way tickets are presented on the web-page. All tickets available online will have a clickable ticket icon everywhere they are listed on the webpage. Only shows that have hard tickets available (AT SMOKE) will be listed under the ticket section (lower right hand column) on this page.

Get your Trans AM tickets now. There is an upcharge at the door.

A sad note today: Wesley Willis died from complications related to Leukemia. For more info, see Alternative Tentacles' website.

[07.24.03]
I added a quick slide show of pictures to the photos page. Thanks to Megan Crutcher and Andrew Chadwick for providing the pics. More comprehensive photos page to come soon. Also, If anyone has cool photos, i would love to get them. Especially, Frank Black. I know they're out there somewhere!!

[07.22.03]
Ok Peeps, Nigel is taking over the e-mail list. This means at least two things. First, NO ONE (except Nigel) is responsible for his grammar. Second, you should receive more timely and on-point emails. I know all of you will miss Jay's sometimes clever and always caustic emails. Therefore, to address the issue before it comes up, please send Nigel HATEmail to Nigel directly here and send praise of Nigel's emails to nobodycares@cgcoffeehouse.com.

[07.21.03]
OkeeDokee! I am trying to get the webpage updated with some new features. The 'Sounds' page is up, but not complete. Please email me if you are a band who either wants to be added, or wants to be excluded.

Also, the 'Photos' page should be up (at least partially) in the next couple of weeks. Common Gorunds has many photos of past acts, however, there is lots of stuff we do not have. If you have pics you would like to share with us, let me know via email.
And, email me if you want your band, or Gainesville Institution, included on the Links page.
Also email me, if you think that the Pop-Ups on the links detract from the page's functionality.
Thanks,
Naomi

[07.15.03]
Alright, as most of you know, Common Grounds was looking to move to the old Covered Dish space.
That move will not be happening in the near future. Sorry to all you folks out there hoping for better news.

[05.26.03]
Now at Common Grounds: HOT DOGS! At any CGs' show, come eat a juicey dog. Also, check out the new video game at CGs. It has a cool trivia setting. Oh, and if anyone thought last week's "news" section was a dig at the Top - well, you're an idiot. The Top ROCKS.

[05.17.03]
Allyou fuckers who missed the Jason Loewenstien show last week should never, ever, call yourselves "music fans." To quote long-time CG's employee Matt Brink, it was posiibly the "greatest show ever on Common Grounds' stage." Unless you were dying, in the hospital, or fighting with your finance' about wedding plans, you should have been at CGs. As one well-known (blonde) Gainesville writer said "eveyone at the Top tonight should be punched in the face!" Shame on you, G'ville.

[05.08.03]
So everyone needs to kiss their mother on Sunday. You guys know that, right? Mothers are, like, cool. Then go find some hotties who are also mothers, and maybe they want to be kissed too? Also, we have tickets for some
cool shows on-sale. So bust out that high-interest credit card right now!.

[04.22.03]
OK, so the new t-shirts never appeared, oh well. The anniversary week went well. Thanks everyone. The Sunday anniversary party was great. If you weren't invited - haha! If you were invited and didn't show up - you suck!

[04.09.03]

Common Grounds will have new T-shirts available for the Anniversary Week. Come in and check them out. Plus all the local shows during the anniversary week are only two fucking dollars. So your cheap-ass can afford to come out all week and actually tip your bartender.

[03.24.03]

On-Line tickets for the HWM shows are SOLD OUT. Tickets are still available locally at SMOKE, which is located on the SW corner of University Ave / 10th St. (next to the flower shop).

[03.19.03]

Alrighty, Please note that ALL hard tickets are now being sold at SMOKE exclusively. Right now, you may buy tickets to both HWM Charity Benefits and Crooked Fingers at SMOKE. All other tickets listed below are available online only. Engine Down/ Minus the Bear tickets will be at Smoke by the beginning of next week.

[03.07.03]

OK, We've had a crazy month. Nigel was out-of-town for two weeks with GunMoll. And, while he was gone, Naomi was in the hospital for a few days. Anyway, on to the important stuff: Frank Black tickets are SOLD OUT. Sorry! Also, Hyde and Zeke's has MOVED! They are now located at 402 NW 10th Ave. However, Common Grounds will no longer be selling tickets at the new location. Instead, we will now be selling tickets at SMOKE (located less than a block to the west of Common Grounds on University Ave). This should be just as convenient to you guys, because SMOKE is open until 3am on weekends (TH-SAT) and late during the rest of the week.

[02.13.03]

Hot Water Music will be playing two back-to-back shows in late March for charity. If you are buying tickets for one of these shows, make sure you are aware of the date of the show. If you buy the wrong tickets, they will not be honored at the other show. Sorry for any confusion this may cause, but we want to let every one see at least one show. (Plus make bank for the charities). Thanks.

[02.13.03]
Nigel is going on tour with Gunmoll as their "merch girl" for almost three weeks. Naomi and employees are throwing a huge celebration. (We actually got NIgel to believe it was a "going-away party".) If you want to contact Nigel during this time, email HERE. (Keep in mind he is on the road, so even if he doesn't hate your band - which isn't likely - he might not be that quick in responding.) You could call Naomi every ten minutes at Common Grounds and ask for NIgel, just to make sure she isn't lonely. If you want to meet up with Nigel on the road, check out where he will be each night HERE.

[02.04.03]
Always feel free to email Common Grounds
with any questions regarding upcoming shows. Enjoy!

[01.30.03]
Check out all the big shows coming up through March and buy tickets early. We hate to turn people away, but some of these shows will sell out
.

[01.29.03]
Tom came over and we worked on the web-page.

[01.28.03]
OK--so we need to get this thing updated...
We'll have it updated and fully functioning soon.
We've been busy getting ready for a rap battle with a rival
coffeehouse.

[01.20.03]

Finally! The new site is up... well sort of.

There's still a lot of things that aren't 100%, but we're working on them. We'll do our best to have everything up and running soon. We intend to update the site more frequently, but please be patient at first because it'll take some time to get things working smoothly. If you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to keep them to yourself.

For those of you interested in T-shirts we still have some left, but you should get one soon before they're gone.

Several good shows in the coming months -- check out the "Featured Shows" and "Noteworthy" sections.
More to report soon
